Introducing our Pilgrim’s Passport
Wednesday 22nd January 2025A family-friendly guide to our designated churches has been created to help families journey together this Jubilee Year.
Bishop John has appointed six churches across the diocese to be Designated Churches for the 2025 Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee.
Over the coming months, people are encouraged to visit these churches and spend time in prayerful activity to receive a special grace, called a plenary indulgence, that is available during this Holy Year.
In a move to encourage families to take up this act of pilgrimage together, we have created a family-friendly guide to all six of our designated churches consisting of fast facts, questions to prompt conversation, and activities to help people explore our churches.
The booklet also presents an additional challenge to collect stickers from each church to document your progress throughout the year.
Fr Chris Lough, Jubilee Coordinator for the Diocese of Salford, said: “Jubilee years are wonderful invitations to go back to the basics of our faith; to rediscover our relationship with God and the hope that underlines our Christian faith.
“Taking place just once every 25 years, the Holy Year offers a rare and unrepeatable opportunity to embark on this journey as a family and to establish a new role for faith in family life for years to come.”
Our Pilgrim’s Passports are available for free in all six of our designated churches or can be viewed online by clicking here.
Two additional books have also been produced for this Year of Jubilee to help adults embark on local pilgrimages.
The books, Pilgrims of Hope, and A Popular History of the Diocese of Salford, written by Monsignor John Allen offer fascinating insights into the Catholic history of Greater Manchester and Lancashire. Proceeds from the books are going to our diocesan charity, Caritas Diocese of Salford, and can be purchased from: www.caritassalford.org.uk/pilgrimbook and www.caritassalford.org.uk/historybook
