Lourdes at Home 2024
Thursday 25th July 2024This year, we mark the centenary of our Salford Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes and we’re inviting each and every one of you to mark this wonderful occasion with us.
Our much-loved pilgrimage has played an important role in our diocese over the past 100 years, bringing faith, hope, and renewed encounter with Christ to generations of families across the diocese.
Whether you are travelling with us to Lourdes this year, or remaining at home, you are called to be part of this year’s pilgrimage by joining with us in prayer.
Our Salford Lourdes Pilgrimages Director, Fr Gerard Fieldhouse-Byrne, explains: “For those who can’t be with us in Lourdes this year, it’s important to recognise that you can still participate in your mind and heart from wherever you are in the Diocese of Salford. It’s as valid as being with us there in person because Our Blessed Mother is inviting us to open our minds and hearts wherever we are. It’s great if you can be with us in Lourdes but if you can’t, the message is still the same: open our minds and hearts to Christ, her Son, Our Saviour.
“That’s what pilgrimage is about: to seek God’s presence through Our Blessed Mother – and it’s not something that’s confined to that holy place in Lourdes. That message touches our hearts and is alive wherever we are.”
