Synod Update: Building Connections

Wednesday 2nd October 2024

Our diocesan synod journey continues this month as we turn our attention to the second of our Big Listen themes.

This second theme, entitled Building Connections, invites us to explore more about what it means to be a parish or diocesan community, how we can provide a place of welcome and friendship to all, and how we can live out Gospel values and share the Good News beyond the pews.

In the summary leaflet for Theme Two, which you can view here, readers are reminded of St Paul’s words to the Corinthians: “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body.”

These words set out the core aim of this second theme: to better understand how we connect to others in our communities and how this reflects the Church on a national and global level.

Now, people across the diocese are invited to reflect on this theme a little more by studying our Summary Leaflet or our Big Listen Report.

Parish groups are then asked to hold Theme Gatherings over the coming weeks to discern and discuss the theme together before submitting two proposals relating to this specific theme.

To find out more about how to get involved in your parish, please speak to your parish priest or Synod member.
