Announcing our WYD Pray at Home Resources

Thursday 27th July 2023

Next week, young adults from across the diocese will be heading to Lisbon for World Youth Day 2023.

World Youth Day is the ultimate celebration of faith for young Catholics all over the world and this summer, young pilgrims from our diocese will be joining more than 500,000 people from across the globe in this joyous encounter of faith and friendship.

Bringing together people of all cultures and backgrounds, World Youth Day is an inspiring symbol of our Catholic Church, a Church of “many parts, but one body”, united by the Holy Spirit.

This connectivity is at the very heart of World Youth Day and is not just simply limited to the pilgrims at the event itself; it connects people – of all ages and from all countries – in prayer.

In the spirit of this connectivity, we will be running a Pray at Home series throughout the duration of the pilgrimage, to connect with people across the diocese in prayer.

A number of resources are already available on our Salford Youth Ministry page, with more to be added throughout the week.

You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more regular updates and to see more of our time in Lisbon.

Salford Youth Ministry Manager, Lorraine, said: “Pilgrimages in general are powerful opportunities to leave behind the noise and demands of everyday life, to step away from our usual thoughts and distractions to make time and space for God. This is the very essence of pilgrimage; it is a call to allow time and space to be with the Lord.”

“And so, we invite you to join us this World Youth Day – wherever you are in the diocese – through our Pray at Home series. We encourage you to take a little time each day to step away from the usual distractions and to spend that time in prayer.”
