Prayer and Pilgrimage

There’s no doubting that prayer and pilgrimage offer transformative benefits to a young person’s faith journey.

Our youth ministry team is dedicated to providing meaningful ways to help young people personally encounter Christ through opportunities within our diocese or further afield.

We are delighted to be returning to the beautiful shrine of Our Lady in Walsingham on 2-3 May 2025.

Once again, our Salford Youth Ministry Team is delighted to hold a special pilgrimage for young people in Years 7, 8, and 9.

This annual pilgrimage is a real highlight in our diocesan calendar, welcoming hundreds of pilgrims from across the diocese to join in this prayerful experience.

Walk along the Holy Mile with your fellow pilgrims as we pray the Rosary and sing hymns to Our Lady before having the chance to explore the peaceful grounds of the Catholic shrine, visit the famous Slipper Chapel, and take part in a Service of Reconciliation and Mass at the basilica.

The pilgrimage will take place 2-3 May 2025.

Join our Youth Ministry Team on a true voyage of discovery in visiting this popular place of pilgrimage.

Step back through centuries of Christian history as we learn more about the story of our faith in Britain in a beautiful destination that welcomes more than 650,000 visitors each year.

With opportunities for prayer and reflection throughout the stay, this pilgrimage is set to be a wonderful way to celebrate our faith with other young people under the age of 16.

The pilgrimage will take place 20th-22nd June.

We are delighted to be travelling to Lourdes once again as our annual diocesan pilgrimage returns in 2025.

Embrace the pilgrimage spirit with daily Masses, private prayer, torchlight processions and more as we walk in the footsteps of St Bernadette in the exact spot where Our Lady appeared to the teenager 18 times.

Bringing our centenary celebrations to a close, 2025 will once again provide an opportunity to visit and pray at the shrine that brings millions of pilgrims from across the world to this small, French town each and every year.

By registering as an aspiring volunteer, you can experience the Lourdes legacy of love and service first hand whilst developing a range of fantastic transferable skills.

Next year’s pilgrimage will take place between 31st July and 6th August.
