Welcoming the Safeguarding Inspection Findings
Thursday 21st May 2026We welcome the publication of the recent safeguarding inspection by the Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency, which has assessed the Diocese of Salford as exceeding expectations overall.
This is a positive affirmation of the commitment shown across our diocese by clergy, staff and volunteers to ensuring that safeguarding is embedded in our culture, leadership and daily practice. The inspection highlights strong safeguarding arrangements, a shared sense of responsibility, and a clear focus on creating safe environments for all.
Importantly, the report also identifies areas where further development is needed, particularly in strengthening consistency and quality assurance. We welcome this constructive challenge and are committed to taking forward these recommendations as part of our ongoing work.
Safeguarding is a responsibility shared by us all. We remain committed to listening, learning and continually improving, so that our Church can be a place of safety, care and trust for everyone.
