Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed the Year of St Francis to run from 10th January 2026 to 10th January 2027.
St Francis was born in 1811 in the town of Assisi. He grew up in a wealthy family but later renounced his inheritance and devoted himself to a life following Jesus – a life of poverty, chastity and charity.
This year, we mark the eighth centenary of St Francis’ death on 3rd October 1226 and the Apostolic Penitentiary has issued a Decree granting the special graces of a Plenary Indulgence to mark the occasion.
A Plenary Indulgence will be granted to all who participate in a pilgrimage ‘to any Franciscan conventual church, or place of worship in any part of the world, named after St Francis or connected to him for any reason’.
We are pleased to announce our diocesan pilgrimage to Pantasaph Monastery in North Wales for the Year of St Francis of Assisi, which is due to take place on Saturday 17th October 2026.
If you wish to register your interest, your details will be added to a mailing list and a booking form sent to you when bookings are open.
