Fr Thomas Mullin RIP

We are sorry to share the sad news that Fr Thomas Mullin died peacefully in the early hours of Friday 19th December in Buncrana, Co. Donegal.

Please remember him in your prayers and in the celebration of Mass.

Fr Mullin was in his ninety second year, the sixty seventh year of his Sacred Priesthood. May he rest in peace.

Thomas Francis Mullin was born on 12th December 1934 in Bree, Malin Head Co. Donegal and baptised at Malin Church the same day. He was educated at St Columb’s College, Derry and St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny.

Thomas was accepted as an Ecclesiastical student for the Diocese of Salford on 5th March 1954, continuing at St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny.

Father Thomas Mullin was ordained to the Priesthood on 31st May 1959 at St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny.

Fr Mullin served the Diocese of Salford in the following appointments:

1959-1966: St. Edward’s, Rusholme as Assistant Priest
1966-1972: St. Hubert’s, Great Harwood as Assistant Priest
1972-1977: St. Christopher’s, Ashton-under-Lyne as Assistant Priest
1977-1981: St. Mary’s, Blackburn as Parish Priest
1981-2006: St. Matthew’s, Winton as Parish Priest

Fr Tom retired in August 2006 and returned to his home in Bree, Malin Head in Co. Donegal. After a period of illness, Fr Tom moved to Nazareth House Care Home in Buncrana in October 2019.

Fr Mullin’s funeral took place on Sunday, 21st December at 10am at St Mary’s Church, Lagg, Co. Donegal. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in due course.
