Hope in the Future

Hope in the Future is an ongoing invitation to every parish in the diocese to recognise and develop their missionary identity and their call to evangelise.

The programme was first introduced on 4th October 2017 – the feast of St Francis of Assisi – in reference to the saint’s call from Jesus to “Rebuild my Church.”

In his homily to launch the programme – which you can read here – Bishop John explored more about what it meant to be a missionary disciple and how this programme could rebuild our church within our diocese.

Getting Involved

The programme has been divided into five stages, each with a different focus and aim to help parishes grow and develop in their own time.

If you are currently working through the programme, or just beginning, our Department for Formation has a range of resources to accompany you on the way. Please email formation@dioceseofsalford.org.uk to find out.

Legacy Booklet

If you would like to learn more about the programme as a whole, or see how parishes across the diocese responded to the call to “rebuild”, our Hope in the Future Legacy Booklet is a fantastic place to start.

To accompany you throughout the process, we invite you to pray our Hope in the Future prayer, rooting the actions we take in constant prayer and dialogue with the Holy Spirit:

Cycle of Prayer

We also continue our Hope in the Future Prayer Cycle, bringing the prayers of our diocese together for the good of one parish each week. Our current Cycle of Prayer is available here:
