Caritas Salford Advent Appeal 2025
Friday 21st November 2025As Christmas draws nearer, it’s very tempting to get excited about the plans for parties and pantomimes, shopping and singing carols, making a list and checking it twice…
However, as Catholics, we know that Advent is a time of prayer, of expectant waiting, hopeful anticipation, and joyful preparation of welcoming Jesus into our lives and hearts.
This year, Caritas Salford, our diocesan charity, is shining a spotlight on what is really important at this time of year – and beyond too.
Did you know that according to latest statistics, in our diocese there are 8,928 children living in temporary accommodation, an increase of 11 per cent compared with the same time last year? 481 people have been seen sleeping rough, and more than one in three children in our parishes are living in poverty, not knowing if they’ll have a roof over their heads and not sure if they’ll have a meal today or on Christmas Day either.
Caritas’ popular Bee There campaign is back and this year the bees are buzzing with excitement to have their moment in the spotlight on ‘Stars in their Hives.’
Why not take a look at the special animation and see how you can use your gifts and talents to raise money or take action in your parish this Christmas to help local people who are facing acute crisis right now?
There’s a range of free content, prayers, resources and other information you can download too.
With your continued support, together we can ensure that no one is left behind and shine a spotlight on the true meaning of Christmas.
