Monday 17th September 2018Adoremus – the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress – was held in Liverpool from 7 – 9 September 2018 to celebrate the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Church.

Day 1 – The Symposium
In the Liverpool Echo Arena on the morning of Friday, 7 September, there were three keynote speeches:
The scriptural context
Canon Mervyn Tower, Parish Priest, Corpus Christi, Oxford. “The Scriptural Context to Adoration and Understanding of the Holy Eucharist”. A deepening of our adoration and understanding of the Holy Eucharist must begin with the Scriptures. This presentation examines various relevant texts of both the Old and New Testaments and their Jewish and wider backgrounds.
The Eucharist in the life of the Church
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Church’s life and mission. Canon David J Oakley, Rector of St Mary’s College, Oscott.
Teaching the Eucharist
The Eucharist won’t make sense unless it is taught from a lived context that makes sense of it. Here is Sister Margaret Atkins’ Symposium Keynote given at the Adoremus Eucharistic Congress and Pilgrimage in the ACC Echo Arena in Liverpool on Friday, 7 September 2018.
Sister Margaret is a member of the Augustinian Community at Boarbank Hall in Cumbria and former teacher of Theology at Trinity and All Saints College, Leeds.
Day 2 – The Congress
In the Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday, 8 September, delegates heard addresses by Bishop Robert Barron and Cardinal Nichols lead evening prayer and gave a reflection:

Day 3 – The Pilgrimage
The Adoremus National Eucharistic Congress and Pilgrimage ended with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament through Liverpool. A fitting and moving conclusion to a wonderful three days. Watch a short film below:
