Lent around our Diocese

The season of Lent provides us with an opportunity to take a step back and reflect. To refocus on what we believe, and why. We remind ourselves about the faith and trust that we have in our God and we take a moment to regain the sense of putting our faith into action in all that we do.

Around our diocese this Lent, there are many opportunities for prayer and reflection.

Rosary, Sermon & Benediction ‘The last seven words of Jesus’ at Salford Cathedral

This event is led by the men of St Joseph and will be followed by Bible study and fellowship for men. It will take place every Tuesday evening throughout Lent starting on 25th February at 7.00pm, concluding 31st March

Lectio Divina at Salford Cathedral

Lectio Divina will take place throughout Lent in the Cloisters of Salford Cathedral at 12.45pm each Wednesday.

Serene Silence: The Seven Sorrows of Mary at Hidden Gem, Manchester

Mulberry Street, Manchester, M2 6LN
A series of meditations given by Fr Ian Kelly based on the Seven Sorrows of Mary.  Beginning on Wednesday 26th February (Ash Wednesday) at 6pm continuing each Wednesday 6pm, concluding Wednesday 8th April (Holy Week).

Matthew: A Vision of Jesus Reflections at Wardley Hall, Worsley

The Bishops of England and Wales have challenged us to read the entire Gospel of Matthew as part of The God Who Speaks year on Scripture. Our Lenten programme will focus on this challenge.

Week 6: April 3: a. Jesus’ Passion and Death b. Jesus’ Resurrection and Great Commission

Lectio Divina at Salford Cathedral

Lectio Divina will take place each Thursday throughout Lent at 7.30pm in the Assembly Room.

Deanery of St John the Evangelist (Salford) Station Masses

Around the Deanery of St John
7pm Mass (6.30pm Confessions) will take place across the Deanery of St John each Wednesday throughout Lent.
