Joy: the Surprise of the Gospel

Joy: the Surprise of the Gospel is a Scripture Festival taking place at Salford Cathedral and the Cathedral Centre on 6 October 2018.
It is being organised collaboratively by northern dioceses, members of religious orders and is supported by the Scripture Working Group of the Bishops’ Conference. The theme of Joy has been chosen to reflect the appealing message of Pope Francis in The Joy of the Gospel.
The day is designed to offer a taste of scripture to a wide range of people across the North of England. As well as keynote speakers who will bring insights into how the scriptures offer us joy and hope, there will be a variety of workshops for people to explore the Bible in different ways. There will not just be an opportunity for bible study but also to respond to the text in words, art and prayer.
