Caritas Salford Advent Appeal

Tuesday 12th November 2024

Our diocesan charity Caritas Salford has launched its brand-new Advent Appeal for 2024, asking us to #BeeThere for someone this Christmas.

The appeal, which includes a brand new, specially created animation film is reminding people that, while at this time of year, when we are all under pressure to buy more, spend more, consume more and respond to the never-ending call to accumulate things, some people in our communities don’t even have the basics.

Whether that’s food for their baby, warm clothes or heating, or even the security of a roof over their family’s heads, more and more people in our diocese are facing acute crisis this Christmas.

We’re calling for people to not just make Christmas about the tinsel, the parties and the supermarket queues, but to help put real meaning back into Christmas this year.  We’re asking them to #BeeThere with a gift that can truly help people to transform their lives with dignity.

However small those positive steps to help might feel, people in your area, your street, or your wider community can transform their lives this Christmas thanks to that kindness.

People we know are facing crisis right now. People in urgent need of support both at this time of year, and for the long-term too. If all of us pledged to ‘Bee There’ for just one person in our diocese this Christmas, we could make such a huge difference.

How can you help?

Here are a few ways you could join in the #BeeThere appeal this Advent:

  • Make a donation or pledge to fundraise – you can see how specially created virtual gift catalogue on our website page at www.caritassalford.org.uk/beethere
  • Share our film and posts on social media using the hashtag #BeeThere  or create your own posts (please tag us in and we can share)
  • Spread the word about the appeal to your family, friends, community and wider network today and through the appeal
  • Encourage local contacts to join in the fundraising and sharing of the appeal , and ask them to take action to help people in their parishes across our diocese

Thank you, as always, for all your help and generosity in making this appeal as successful as possible.

The money raised will help us right across all of our services in Greater Manchester and Lancashire, so we can continue to work alongside people in our communities and help them to transform their lives with dignity.
