Fraternity: A proposal and project for relations between Christians and Muslims

The Newman Association is set to present an important lecture on inter-religious dialogue later this month.

Cardinal Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald is set to explore a relationship of fraternity between Christians and Muslims in a fascinating presentation on the document on Human Fraternity, co-signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of al-Azhar on 4 February 2019.

Cardinal Fitzgerald belongs to the Missionaries of Africa (previously the White Fathers). He is a leading expert on Islam, Christian-Muslim relations and inter-religious dialogue.

Fluent in Arabic (he is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London). At his retirement in 2012 he was papal nuncio to Egypt and delegate to the League of Arab States . From 2002 to 2006 he headed the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue.

The lecture will take place at 6.30pm (arrival at 6pm) on Thursday 15 September. It will be hosted at Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS.
